FXRs on the Road

BetaHow it works

Every FXR model family, ranked by how many FXR Archive estimates are still on the road, year by year from 1982 to 2026. Press play or drag the slider. The count peaks in 1994 at about 84,368 bikes; by 2026 it is about 52,721.

How it works

The initial production numbers for each model year come from The Bazar Book of FXRs by Nick Hinzo. FXR Archive grouped them by model family (the FXRS Sport Edition and the Low Rider Convertible are counted on their own). A few early rows with no printed total count as zero.

Attrition assumption (FXR Archive's own, not the book's): nobody tracks how many FXRs are still running, so each year's production is worn down by a flat rule: 3% a year for the first 3 years, 2% a year for the next 5, then 1.5% a year after that, compounded yearly. A bike counts fully on the road in the year it was built. Wrecks, parting out, rebuilds and barn finds are all inside those rates, so treat the bars as an estimate, not a registration count.

Numbers are rounded to whole bikes per family, so the running total can differ from a per model year sum by a couple of units.

Initial production numbers used for this estimate: The Bazar Book of FXRs by Nick Hinzo. The 99,577 total, the on-road counts, the attrition assumptions and everything else here are FXR Archive’s own.
